Florals for spring. Groundbreaking.

It's officially spring time and as classic as florals are for this time of season, there are so many other fashion options that include different colors and patterns.

Spring is a great time for fashion and self expression. It's warm enough to wear certain items you wouldn't wear in winter but still chilly enough that you can layer different pieces without having a heat stroke.

But first, why are flowers such a staple in spring fashion? The simple explanation is what flowers symbolize.

Flowers symbolize rebirth, growth, and change. Flowers have always represented the coming of the new season due to the springtime weather allowing them to grow once again.

The return of flowers shows the return of new life after the harshness and coldness of winter. Bringing that warmth and vibrancy of colour back into the world after the months of cold and grey. Which in turn allows for vibrant colours in our fashion choices.

Florals are not groundbreaking, but classic.

Now if you don't want to wear florals all season long here are some other spring wardrobe options starting from the top down.

Trench Coats:

Trench coats are not only fashionable but also functional. Depending on where you live, spring can bring some unpredictable weather.

A trench coat has water resistant material which is perfect for unpredictable spring showers, they also have a lightweight and breathable design which is great for those chilly spring breezes.

They also come in a wide range of colours, patterns, cuts, and even price ranges. So you're bound to find the perfect one for your style and budget.

They also don't have to be a neutral color. I have a red trench coat from Calvin Klein that has been my favourite to wear during the springtime. There is also the classic and signature Burberry trench coat.

Cardigans:

If you're not one for trench coats or just want more options, cardigans come in many styles and materials. They can give off a casual vibe to your look or even elevate it.

They will also keep you warm when that evening breeze sets in.

Tops:

Again, where you live depends on the type of temperature you may experience for the spring. However with spring does come warmer weather which allows you to wear lighter fabric tops. From long sleeves to tank tops.

Who doesn't love fun cut tops that add dimension and movement to the outfit?!

Flared sleeves are a great way to do that. They add a bit of a magical and whimsical touch to the outfit. Not to mention, not all flared sleeves are created equal, so many different style tops to fit any personality.

Tanks and T’s:

Classic for any wardrobe and easy to style up and down, and different material options to keep you warm or cool, depending on the weather.

Dresses:

A dress is not everyone's cup of tea. However you have to admit they are a really easy option. Instead of trying to match a top and bottom together a dress is a simple one piece, ready to go outfit.

When we think of spring dresses our minds often go to the House of CB dresses that have florals galore all over them. Which is beautiful no doubt, but here are some other options if you're looking for a classy or fun spring dress but don't want to look like a walking garden.

Jeans:

Classic for EVERY season on the calendar.

Jeans are so versatile and can be worn all year long with different styles. There are so many options out there too, from low rise, high rise, straight cut, boot cut and flared, not to mention jeans with intricate designs and jewels.

There is a pair for everyone.

Trousers:

If you don't want a casual look that comes with jeans, or jeans just aren't your style, you can opt for a pair of tailored trousers, and just like trench coats, you don't have to get a neutral colour. Unless that's your thing of course.

They come in all sorts of colours, patterns and shapes.

Skirts:

Springtime to me just screams maxi silk skirts. They are versatile and can be dressed up or down and come with so many options.

Accessories:

What's an outfit without at least some fun accessories? Jewellery I find to be personal and you really don't need a guide for that.

Accessories like hats and scarves are fun to pair with outfits and look like you put effort and time into your look.

Silk scarves are a great switch from those warm winter knit scarves, plus silk scarves can be styled in a number of ways, not just around your neck.

Hats:

Another great option to add to outfits. Depending on the occasion and place, a hat really elevates a look. From casual dad hats to wide brim sun hats.

Shoes:

From boots, sneakers, and open toed shoes. There is no limit to what you should or shouldn't wear. However I wouldn't recommend wearing snow boots with your sundress.

Happy spring darlings!
