Fall/Winter Shoe Guide

Hell with the trends! They come and they go quicker than the seasons themselves. It’s more important to find your own personal style and what best represents you. Fashion is not meant to be fast and onto the next ‘best’ thing. It is an art form and we seem to forget that, especially in the era of fast fashion.

You grow as a person and your closet grows with you, that is normal but what is not normal is to wear something for one season and throw it out after a few months.

So instead of just talking about the next big trend, let's talk about some great shoes that have stood the test of time and that are great pieces to have in your closet for years to come. You can style them in several ways to fit your personal style which in theory makes them truly timeless.

1. Classic Sneaker

This will honestly look different for everyone depending on what your favorite sneaker is. But a comfortable sneaker that you love is perfect for simple everyday outfits. They are extremely versatile styling wise, from street wear, classy, and even high fashion. It all depends on your personal style because a good pair of sneakers can go a long way. There are so many sneakers out there so you’re bound to find ones that you like.

2. Boots

The fall and winter months bring colder temperatures, boots not only look great but they keep us warm. All sorts of boots exist on the market, from winter snow boots to a more stylish boot. You can find them in your size however one boot is not a one style fit all. I personally love knee high boots that cut off right below the knee, as well as ankle boots that stop a little bit above the ankle. For winter boots I prefer a style that shows faux fur. My personal style calls for a more combat style boot style in general, but I know that isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. So here are my favorite boots as well as a list of some options that I see a lot of people love.

3. Loafers

This one isn’t for everyone believe me I understand because this style doesn’t have a widely diverse styling audience. I mainly see these worn in the more classic ‘old money’ way or the dark academia scholarly way (the latter being the reason I own a pair, I love a good academic style during the fall)

Instead of just showing the shoes here are a few styling ideas from the best fashion media to ever exist (Pinterest) to show you the potential of these shoes.

4. Mary Jane Shoes:

Again, a more niche style that doesn't fit everyone. Here's a few styling options to give you an idea of the potential they have. I personally have owned a pair of Mary Janes from the brand Doc Martens and loved them. But I haven't done a repurchase since I mostly lean towards a boot or sneaker during the colder months.

Hope this guide helped, remember when shopping don't worry about trends and go for what you like. Trends can be a great way to discover styles and try something new, but should not be followed blindly.

For example, the Adidas Sambas sneakers were trending everywhere, it was a great way for people to find a shoe that they love, but I also saw a lot of people quickly grow to hate them and donate them after a few short months and only wore them for a few social media posts just simply because they were trendy.

But if you're interested in what's trending for fall 2024, suede. This reigns true in not only shoes but coats, bags, etc. I do love a good suede boot though I can't lie.

Find what you love and feel confident in.
